Why Don’t I Like Girls? Or Guys?


You were always told that you’d reach a certain age and presto! You’d suddenly become interested in girls. Well, that age came, and everyone else became interested in girls. But not you. And so maybe you start to think: If not girls, then… guys? But guys don’t do it for you, either.

The years roll on, and you gradually realize that those feelings are never going to materialize.  You’re not all that interested in anyone.  What’s going on?

Many people who never become sexually interested in anyone are asexual. Asexuality is a sexual orientation, and it’s just as normal and valid as any other. Alternatively, many people who never become romantically interested in anyone are aromantic. Being aromantic is a romantic orientation, and like asexuality, it’s normal and valid. It is possible to be either asexual or aromantic separate from one another, and it’s also possible to be both at the same time.
